This is a next release continuing the 4th version of both Apache Lucene and Apache Solr.<\/p>\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n<p>Here are some of the changes that were made comparing to the 4.2 version:<\/p>\n<h3>Lucene<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Major improvement to <em>BooleanQuery<\/em> using the <em>minShoudlMatch<\/em> option<\/li>\n<li><em>SortingAtomicReader<\/em> was added, which allows sorting the index on a certain criteria<\/li>\n<li><em>SortingMergePolicy<\/em> was added, which allows sorting documents before a new segment will be created<\/li>\n<li><em>DocIdSetIterator<\/em> and <em>Scorer<\/em> classes enables to set the maximum documents that an iterator should match<\/li>\n<li>Known bugfixes and improvements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Solr<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to configure Solr to automatically discover cores (from a certain directory) without the need of maintaining <em>solr.xml<\/em> file<em><br>\n<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>We can split shards in a SolrCloud deployment on a live collection ! <\/strong>(<a href=\"http:\/\/solr.pl\/en\/2013\/05\/06\/solr-4-3-shard-splitting-quick-look\/\">http:\/\/solr.pl\/en\/2013\/05\/06\/solr-4-3-shard-splitting-quick-look\/<\/a>)<strong><br>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Functionality behind <em>schema.xml<\/em> REST API has been improved and is being ready to allow <em>schema.xml<\/em> changes with the use of REST API<\/li>\n<li>Support for new <em>solr.xml<\/em> format that will replace the current <em>solr.xml<\/em> format in the 5.0 version of Solr<\/li>\n<li>Enchantments that comes with Apache Lucene 4.3<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Full changes list for Lucene can be found at <a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.apache.org\/lucene-java\/ReleaseNote43\">http:\/\/wiki.apache.org\/lucene-java\/ReleaseNote43<\/a>.
