When comparing to the <a href=\"http:\/\/solr.pl\/en\/2011\/09\/14\/lucene-and-solr-3-4\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">3.4<\/a> there were some major changes introduced about which you can read in the rest of the post.<\/p>\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n<p>Some of the changes in version <strong>3.5<\/strong> compared to 3.4:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lucene<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>Substantial reduction of memory needed to hold term dictionary<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/solr.pl\/en\/2011\/07\/18\/deep-paging-problem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Deep paging<\/em><\/a> support by adding <em>searchAfter<\/em> method to the <em>IndexSearcher<\/em> class<\/li>\n<li>Added <em>SearchManager <\/em>which simplifies sharing and opening <em>IndexSearcher<\/em> in multithreaded environment<\/li>\n<li><em>IndexWriter optimize<\/em> method was renamed to <em>forceMerge<\/em> to sound less cool \ud83d\ude42<\/li>\n<li><em>IndexSearcher reopen<\/em> method was renamed to <em>openIfChanged<\/em> which now return <em>null<\/em> if the index wasn&#8217;t changed<\/li>\n<li>Added <em>SearchLifetimeManager <\/em>which simplifies usage of the same instance of searcher between multiple requests<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<li>Solr<\/li>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to use grouping functionality with distributed search<\/li>\n<li>Language identification contrib module which use Apache Tika<\/li>\n<li><em>Trie<\/em> field types and dates support <em>sortMissingFirst<\/em> and <em>sortMissingLast<\/em> attributes<em><\/em><\/li>\n<li>Changes from Apache Lucene 3.5 library, for example substantial reduction of memory needed for term dictionary<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The full list of changes in Apache Lucene <strong>3.5<\/strong> is available at the following URL address: <a href=\"http:\/\/wiki.apache.org\/lucene-java\/ReleaseNote35\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/wiki.apache.org\/lucene-java\/ReleaseNote35<\/a>.
