There are numerous changes, but I&#8217;ll just mention some of them (following Grant Ingersoll announcement).<\/p>\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n<p>Changes:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Lucene\n<ul>\n<li>Numerous performance improvements<\/li>\n<li>ReusableAnalyzerBase to make token reuse more friendly<\/li>\n<li>Improved Analysis capabilities including Unicode 4<\/li>\n<li><em>IndexWriter.getReader<\/em> is replaced by<em> IndexReader.open(IndexWriter)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>MultiSearcher is deprecated<\/li>\n<li>New TotalHitCountCollector<\/li>\n<li>On 64bit Windows and Solaris JVMs, MMapDirectory is now the default implementation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Solr\n<ul>\n<li>Numeric range facets (<a href=\"http:\/\/solr.pl\/en\/2010\/08\/23\/the-scope-of-solr-faceting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">blog entry<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>New spatial search, including spatial filtering, boosting and sorting capabilities<\/li>\n<li>Fast Vector Highlighter<\/li>\n<li>Extended Dismax query parser<\/li>\n<li>New Autosuggest component (<a href=\"http:\/\/solr.pl\/en\/2010\/11\/15\/solr-and-autocomplete-part-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">blog entry<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Ability to sort by functions (<a href=\"http:\/\/solr.pl\/en\/2011\/02\/28\/sorting-by-function-value-in-solr-solr-1297\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">blog entry<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>CSV response format (<a href=\"http:\/\/solr.pl\/en\/2010\/08\/03\/csvresponsewriter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">blog entry<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Apache UIMA integration<\/li>\n<li>Velocity driven sample GUI (<a href=\"http:\/\/solr.pl\/en\/2010\/09\/27\/quick-look-solritas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">blog entry<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Lucene 3.1 as base library<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The full list of changes in <strong>Lucene 3.1<\/strong> can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/svn.apache.org\/repos\/asf\/lucene\/dev\/tags\/lucene_solr_3_1\/lucene\/CHANGES.txt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>. <strong>Solr 3.1<\/strong> change list can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/svn.apache.org\/repos\/asf\/lucene\/dev\/tags\/lucene_solr_3_1\/solr\/CHANGES.txt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The newest version of<strong> Lucene<\/strong> <strong><\/strong>library can be found at the following address: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apache.org\/dyn\/closer.cgi\/lucene\/java\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.apache.org\/dyn\/closer.cgi\/lucene\/java\/<\/a>.
